Introduction of Nursing Education Association of Macao

 

Nursing Education Association of Macao is a non-profit organization, which has been set up and registered in Macao on December 15, 2010. Our mission is to enhance the quality of nursing education and the development of advanced nursing education in Macao in order to create excellent clinical nursing personnel. We are committed to establish communication among various worldwide nursing education and/or nursing organizations through different nursing education activities, academic seminars, researches, editing and publishing books and newsletters. Our association is composed of members of the General Assembly, Board of Governors and the Supervisory Board from the two nursing institutions, namely the School of Health Sciences of the Macao Polytechnic Institute and Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macao. Our members recruited have been more than 100 and they are mostly nursing educators, clinical nursing instructors, nursing administrators, nursing researchers, clinical nurses and postgraduate nursing students.

 

The main goal of our association is to develop internationally and be a chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in the Macao district. Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing was founded at Indiana University, USA in 1922. They recognized the excellence of clinical nurses, encourage and enhance the development of clinical nursing leadership, researches and the value of scholarship. With 431 chapters and more than 125,000 members, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing is the second largest nursing organization worldwide. This society has been incorporated as Sigma Theta Tau International, Inc. in 1985. Different chapters are located in the United States, Canada, The Netherlands, Pakistan, Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Hong Kong, and etc.
